Artist of the Month for September is Hugo Cimmelli

Hugo Cimmelli has always had a camera in his hand. He began his interest in photography as a child under the guidance of his Father who previously had a photo studio on Lexington Avenue in NYC. As a child he loved to work in the darkroom with a single red light watching the images appear on paper. His love of photography led him to a 45+ year career in the film business.

Hugo began his journey as a set carpenter before moving to prop master, Special FX coordinator, & Set Designer. His work took him all over the United States, Europe and Russia. Problem solving and designing in camera solutions for some of the best directors in film, TV & print photography.

As president of Cimmelli Inc, his specialties include modelmaking, fabrication, rigging & pyrotechnics. Hugo is a proud member of three Film/Theatrical Unions. Prop Master – International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees (IATSE Local 52), Set Designer – (IATSE local 829), and a member of the Screen Actors Guild.

Hugo’s love of photography continues. He has spent a lifetime in the Arts and Sciences. He continues to explore many creative interests.

Although he will still take on select projects, he is enjoying his retirement-building treehouses with his grandsons, building planter boxes for his daughter and continuing to work on his house in Little Compton.
