DESCRIPTION:As communities face disasters like Hurricane Helene in North Carolina and the wildfires in California\, the importance of planning ahead is clear.  Communities that plan ahead for communication disruptions are better equipped to handle emergencies.   There’s a simple\, affordable\, old-school way to enhance our collective readiness. It’s by investing a few dollars in handheld FRS (Family Radio Service) or GMRS (General Mobile Radio Service) two-way radios.  Communications resilience is a growing topic of discussion among community leaders and first responders.  Want to find out more?  Project leaders from the Newport County Radio Club will be hosting a discussion on Radio and Community Resilience at the Brownell Library on Saturday\, May 3rd at 1 pm.  No registration required for this free program.
