DESCRIPTION:Jim Doherty will talk about the stories in his book “The Anchor of the Soul: Tales of African American Rhode Island” He weaves together little-known stories from the earliest days of RI’s history to the present in twelve intertwining stories. BIO: Native Rhode Islander James Doherty is the author of The Anchor of the Soul: Tales of African American Rhode Island. A graduate of Washington University in St Louis and King’s College London\, he holds a Ph.D. in history from the University of Southampton. His widely praised Irish Liberty\, British Democracy: the Irish Home Rule Crisis\, 1909-14 was published by Cork University Press in 2019. A frequent visitor to his beloved home state\, James lives in London.
