Win two free tickets to see Hamilton at PPAC August 4, 2019!

Two Tiverton residents are sponsoring an essay contest offering two free tickets to a performance of the play Hamilton at PPAC on August 4,2019.  The contest is open to public high school students residing in Tiverton, Portsmouth and Little Compton.

In order to win, students are required to write a one page essay on the topic “Seeing Hamilton in Providence this Summer is important to me because” and submit their entries via email  no later than July 21, 2019.  Tickets are not for resale and are not transferable.

The tickets are being offered by Celeste Ferendo and Lou Viola, who recently relocated to Tiverton after retiring from entertainment industry careers in New York City.

A former costumer and personal assistant for Diana Ross and wardrobe supervisor at Radio City Music Hall and numerous New York based and international theatre and dance companies, Ms. Ferendo has donated her professional expertise to a number of local productions, including the local C.O.R.E. program and the annual Tiverton High School musicals.

Mr. Viola, formerly a talent agent and later a producer of live events for  HBO’s US Comedy Arts Festival and development executive and “scout” for NBC, was instrumental in the ascent of the careers of a large number of prominent comedians, including Steven Wright, Pee Wee Herman, NIGHT COURT’S JudgeHarry Anderson and Lewis Black.  He also produced off-Broadway in New York and Los Angeles.  Mr. Viola is originally from North Providence, RI and began his career in Boston in the late 60’s as a tour manager for many of the region’s prominent folk and folk rock performers of that era.

Entires will be judged on the quality and clarity of the writing and adherence to the topic.  The decision as to the winners will be made by the sponsors and is final.  Those entering need to include their age and contact information.   Winners will notified by August 1, 2019.
